A Little Orientation about Where to Stay in Budapest

Budapest is divided into two main parts by the Danube: Buda and Pest. Buda is a little quieter, with less of a party district, and Pest has the most downtown bars and nightclubs, so it's busier at night.

Both sides are rich in attractions. On the Buda side you will find the Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, the Várkert Bazaar, the Gellért Hill or the Gül Baba's Turbe, while on the Pest side you can visit Heroes' Square, the Vajdahunyad Castle, the Ice Rink or the Parliament. In the middle of all there is Margaret Island between the two sides.

I would definitely recommend that where you choose to stay depends on what attractions you want to visit and where you want to go. Public transport is very good, you can get practically anywhere. You can also choose accommodation in the outer districts, there is a lot of good accommodations in the outer districts, it just takes a bit longer to get in.

Now let's look at the specific accommodation options we can recommend:

Is it better to stay in Buda or Pest in Budapest?

Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, is divided into two halves, Buda and Pest, which are separated by the Danube River. There is much debate as to which side of the city is the better one to stay in. If you are planning to visit Budapest, you may be wondering which side of the city is better for your stay.

The answer really depends on what you are looking for in your stay. Buda is the more historic side of the city and is known for its well-preserved castle, churches, and other historic sites. It is also the quieter side of the city, with fewer accommodations and restaurants. On the other hand, Pest is the more bustling and lively side of the city, with more modern amenities and a greater selection of accommodations and restaurants. Pest is also home to the city’s most popular attractions, such as the Parliament building, the Chain Bridge, and the many museums and galleries.

For those looking for a peaceful and relaxed stay, Buda is the better option. It is quieter and more laid back, and it is the perfect place to explore the city’s historic sites and monuments. For those looking for more of a lively and entertaining experience, Pest is the better option. It is home to the city’s best restaurants, bars, and attractions, and it offers a more modern atmosphere.

In the end, it really depends on what you are looking for in your stay. Both Buda and Pest have their own unique charms, and both offer something for everyone. No matter which side of the city you choose, you are sure to have an enjoyable and memorable stay in Budapest.
